June 08, (THEWILL) – Representatives of Brazilian forward, Neymar Jr., have engaged in discussions regarding a potential move to Saudi Arabia.
A return to his former club Barcelona has been dismissed by manager Xavi, eliminating any possibility of a surprise reunion. Neymar has also been offered to Barcelona, but Xavi has denied any interest in reacquiring the Brazilian, stating that he does not fit into their plans. Neymar currently has two years remaining on his contract with Paris Saint-Germain, and the club holds an option to extend it for an additional 12 months.
Neymar’s on-field performances have drawn criticism from some PSG supporters, and a section of ultras recently staged protests outside his residence, demanding his departure from the club during the upcoming summer transfer window. In May, Newcastle United owners, PIF, were exploring the prospect of signing Neymar, which would serve as a major statement of intent for the team after securing qualification for the upcoming season’s UEFA Champions League.
If Neymar were to leave PSG, it is believed that he would prefer to stay in Europe. However, representatives from the Saudi Pro League have held talks with Neymar’s agents. The Saudi league is keen on securing Neymar as their next high-profile signing, following the recent three-year deal of Karim Benzema with Al Ittihad.
Additionally, other prominent players such as N’Golo Kante are being enticed with substantial financial offers, with the aim of replicating Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Al Nassr, which propelled Saudi Arabia into the global football spotlight.
