January 28, (THEWILL) – The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, has promised that the country’s national teams will return to their winning ways.
In a statement published by the NFF, Gusau emphasised that his administration was making every effort to guarantee that the national teams reclaim their former glory. The NFF President wrote: “The present NFF administration will continue to fashion and implement policies that are targeted at re-engineering the Nigeria game, in order to pull it back to the top. The process requires a lot of hard work and focus and we are determined to do the needful.”
His administration promises to be focused on enlisting players, who are passionate about representing their nation. He stated that his administration will develop Nigerian football from the ground up.
Gusau also revealed that while Nigeria’s emphasis will be on the Super Falcons, who will represent Africa at the 2023 World Cup in New Zealand, the reform is anticipated to begin when Jose Peseiro prepares the Super Eagles for the next Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) competition.
The Super Eagles are currently ranked 35th globally and 5th in Africa in the FIFA rankings, while the Super Falcons are ranked 45th globally. However, Gusau is determined to put the teams back on top. “Our National Teams have been up there before and will be back at the very top sooner than later,” he said.
