February 20, (THEWILL) – Youths under the aegis of the Niger Delta Owerri Forum have called for unity and tolerance among political stakeholders in Owerri Senatorial Zone, cautioning against premature politicking and divisive propaganda that could jeopardize the zone’s chances of producing Imo State’s governor in 2027.

Their appeal comes amid speculations that Governor Hope Uzodimma may support Owerri Zone in the 2027 gubernatorial election.

Speaking on Wednesday in Owerri, the President-General of Owerri Zone Youth Niger Delta Forum, Hon. Okereke Godson Bishop, stressed the need for cohesion, warning that internal divisions could be exploited by political opponents to weaken the zone’s position.

“Owerri Zone has been marginalized in Imo State politics since 1999, and this political exclusion has taken a toll on our people. The Niger Delta Youths are committed to ensuring that the zone’s collective ambition is realized in 2027,” Okereke said.

He commended  Uzodimma for his developmental strides, urging all political interest groups within the zone to set aside differences and work towards a common goal.

“The Shared Prosperity Government will not tolerate distractions that could derail Governor Uzodimma’s administration, which is focused on delivering democratic dividends to the people of Imo State,” he added.

The group emphasised that unity and strategic collaboration would enhance Owerri Zone’s chances of clinching the governorship seat.

They warned against unnecessary political noise, advocating for a structured approach to the 2027 election.

Reaffirming their unwavering support for Uzodimma’s leadership, the youth group described him as a leader committed to fairness and the principles of equity and rotation in Imo State’s political landscape.
