November 14, (THEWILL) – The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has downplayed the chances of the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar in clinching the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party for the 2027 presidential election.
THEWILL reports that the former vice president was the presidential candidate of the PDP in the 2019 and 2023 General elections.
He had defeated Wike in the last presidential primary election of the party.
Atiku recently said if he had won the election, he would have done things differently from President Bola Tinubu and Nigerians would not have been faced with the current level of hardship.
Speaking during a live media parley in Abuja on Wednesday, Wike said Atiku had severally presented his blueprint to Nigerians and he had been serially rejected.
He said, “Did Atiku not present his blueprint to Nigerians? And did they choose him? Now he’s lobbying for another chance, but that chance isn’t coming. In which party? How can we keep using the same person over and over?”
“Take America, for instance. Many didn’t support Trump; they said he’s this, he’s that, even called him a racist. While we criticized, Americans were making decisions they felt were in the best interest of their country.”
“In 2023, you presented your blueprint, Nigerians listened, and they said, ‘Thank you, but no.’ Criticism doesn’t mean the opposition is strong or effective.”
