SAN FRANCISCO, July 05, (THEWILL) – Some social media users have berated singer Emma Chukwugoziam Obi popularly called Emma Nyra for defending detained ‘Instagram celebrity’ and alleged cyber thief, Ramoni Igbalode Abbas aka Hushpuppi.
Hushpuppi was arrested by Dubai authorities and has been extradited to the United States for trial. He made his first appearance in a federal court in Chicago on Friday. He faces up to 20 years in jail if convicted.
Emma Nyra had taken to her Twitter handle to berate Nigerians who are happy over is arrest and prosecution.
She wrote: “A lot of people are happy about what happened to Hushpuppi because he was oppressing them on social media. The truth is that rejoicing in his downfall is not gonna put money in your pocket. I’m tired of reading about someone else’s downfall. Let me jeje hustle my own.”
