September 15, (THEWILL) – New jerseys for the Nigerian football teams have been released by the international sportswear brand Nike.
The shirt has the two national colours of Nigeria—green and white—as well as the eagle, which appears on the coat of arms as a sign of strength and serves as the nickname of the senior national men’s team. Both the home and away jerseys are white with a green neckband and are decorated with eagles. They also have green shorts.
Despite the Super Eagles’ absence from the World Cup, the team’s uniforms are likely to draw worldwide attention once again, thanks to their catchy and attractive designs.
THEWILL, recalls that during the 2018 World Cup in Russia, when the Super Eagles wore that iconic Nike jerseys that bore a semblance to this new design, the Nigerian jerseys recorded the highest fan base and sales jumped impressively for the sportswear company.
Yet, even though the Super Eagles’ green-and-white football kits are still regarded as one of their greatest ever, the current design has received a variety of responses thus far, from very positive to not impressive. It will be interesting to watch how the sales perform this time.
