
February 23, (THEWILL) – Eric R. Holder Jr, has been convicted of killing American rapper, Nipsey Hussle and sentenced to 60 years in prison.
Holder was found guilty of first-degree murder for killing Hussle in 2019, outside the clothing store Hussle founded, the Marathon, in South Los Angeles neighbourhood where both men grew up in very similar circumstances.
H. Clay Jacke II, a Los Angeles judge, gave the verdict on Wednesday, in Los Angeles.
“I am very mindful of what was presented as to Holder Jr’s mental health.
“I am also mindful of the devastation caused to the victims and their families. I believe this sentence balances the two.”
Holder was found guilty of murder as well as two counts of attempted voluntary manslaughter for the two bystanders injured in the shooting after a month-long trial.
The judge sentenced Holder to 25 years for the murder, 25 more for a firearm sentencing enhancement and 10 for assault with a firearm.
