September 30, (THEWILL) – RB Leipzig player, Christopher Nkunku, has already completed a secret Chelsea physical, in preparation for a transfer to the London side next summer, according to reports monitored by THEWILL.
During the previous summer transfer window, the 24-year-old was associated with English Premier League sides, Manchester United and the Blues. However, he signed a contract extension with Leipzig in June that bound him to the German side through the year 2026.
Nkunku, who is expected to leave for Chelsea at the end of the 2022/2023 season, has reportedly already passed a medical for that move, as confirmed by reports coming out of Germany about a private medical exam carried out on the player in August with the London club at a hospital in Frankfurt.
Leipzig is ready to let Nkunku leave next summer given that they have signed Benjamin Sesko from Salzburg, who will join the German team prior to the 2023/2024 season. Chelsea will pay a handsome fee as Nkunku’s contract contains a 60 million euro release clause.
The France international rose to prominence during a standout year in which he was named the 2021/2022 Bundesliga player of the year. Last season, he helped Leipzig win the DFB-Pokal and qualify for the UEFA Champions League with 35 goals in 52 games across all competitions.
