November 14, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited announced that it has reached a production level of 1.8m barrels bpd of crude oil, attributed to intensified efforts to curb pipeline vandalism and crude theft.

Chief Production War Room Officer of NNPC Ltd., Lawal Musa, made this disclosure in Abuja on Thursday.

He emphasised the company’s progress towards the 2m bpd target set by President Bola Tinubu for December 2024.

Musa, who also serves as Senior Business Advisor to NNPC Group Chief Executive Officer Malam Mele Kyari, expressed confidence that the company is on track to meet this milestone.

Highlighting additional achievements, Musa revealed that NNPC has raised its gas production to 7.4 million standard cubic feet per day, a substantial increase from the 6.1 million cubic feet recorded earlier in the year.

The ramped-up production will further support critical gas infrastructure, particularly the AKK pipeline project, a cornerstone of Nigeria’s energy expansion plans.

NNPC’s recent success, the company noted, aligns closely with the federal government’s fiscal projections and underscores the commitment of its teams.

This comes as the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries reported a marginal rise in Nigeria’s average daily crude oil production to 1.33m bpd in October.

According to secondary sources, the country’s production rose by 2.88 percent from September’s 1.39m bpd to 1.43m bpd in October.

THEWILL however notes that OPEC data does not include crude oil sent to local refineries like Dangote and Waltersmith. OPEC data only counts crude oil exports to the international market.
