As THEWILL reported, the Argentine was replaced at halftime of PSG’s 2-1 win over Lille at home, where they were down 1-0 at the time, with Mauricio Pochettino emphasising that it is only a precaution.
“Leo Messi has discomfort in the hamstring muscles of his left leg and pain in his knee following a knock,” a Tuesday statement from PSG’s medical read.
Meanwhile, Mbappe, who was out for PSG’s win over Lille owing to an ear infection, has since recovered and has been included in the team that will face Leipzig.
On the other hand, Sergio Ramos is still going to wait out on his PSG debut as the Spanish centre back was left out of the starting XI once more. Also unavailable are Marco Verratti and Leandro Paredes, who are still recovering from injuries.
Pochettino will be hoping to have a key player like Messi back for his team’s match against Nantes on November 20, which is just four days before a crucial Champions League fixture in the reverse tie against Manchester City.
