November 17, (THEWILL) – Uruguay defeated Argentina 2-0 early on Friday morning in a World Cup qualifying match held at Argentina’s renowned Bombonera stadium in Buenos Aires. Goals from Ronald Araujo and Darwin Núñez in each half secured victory for Uruguay over Lionel Messi’s world-champion Argentinian side.
With the upset win, Uruguay climbed to second place in the South American World Cup qualifying standings with 10 points after five matches.
