November 06, (THEWILL) – The Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF), on Tuesday, overwhelmingly passed a vote of confidence on its President, Hon. Daniel Baraladei Igali, for successes and accomplishments over the years.
The vote of confidence was passed on Igali during the Annual General Meeting, which was presided over by the NWF President, NWF Board Members, States Chairmen, Organisations/Clubs and about 28 States including the Nigerian Police and the NSCDC.
A communique issued at the end of the annual general meeting held at Golden Tulip in Yenagoa, the state capital, also commended the Bayelsa State Government for the consistent hosting and sponsorship of wrestling which is pivotal in the development of the sport in Nigeria.
The Federation reiterated its readiness to continue partnering with the Bayelsa State Government for further wrestling activities.
According to the communique, the Council observed the need for athlete’s investment to ensure stressless and active participation in at least 3 major competitions yearly.
The communique further said the Federation should support the growth of wrestling in the Northern part of Nigeria and that chairmen and Secretaries should work harmoniously with their state directors of sports and urged Associations to reach out to individuals for support and sponsorship.
They also consider the Constitution amendment which led to the Council to constitute a Review Committee, who are expected to look into some grey areas as observed and come up with a resourceful blueprint that will be devoid of ambiguities.
Nomination into the committee was selected from the NWF Board, Association Chairmen, Referees and Coaches which includes Dr. Jude Amadi as Chairman, Dr (Mrs) Odunola T. Bello as Member, Rosemary Usang – Association Chairmen representative while
Usman Yusuf serves as the Referee representative.
Others are Purity Akuh as Coaches representative, Mohammed H. Maigidansanma, to serve as Secretary General and Financial/Audit Report to be sent across to Associations.
They also used the opportunity to extend their heartfelt congratulations to Mallam Shehu Dikko on his recent appointment as Chairman of the National Sports Commission. It expressed its open doors to continue working keenly with him and the NSC board for the growth and betterment of sports across the country.
They also extended their profound appreciation to the Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi for his invaluable contributions to the success of the Federation.
They equally lauded the support often enjoyed through the office of the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Chris Musa. And expressed gratitude to former ministers, Permanent Secretaries and Directors of the Federal Ministry of Sports and the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) for the positive relationships it cultivated over the years.
