November 13, (THEWILL) — Enugu Rangers claimed three points against Remo Stars in their Nigerian Professional Football League encounter on Thursday. Both teams entered the fixture hoping to climb the table, with Remo Stars looking to end a run of draws.
The visitors struck in the 23rd minute when Godwin Obaje converted a swift counter-attack following precise distribution from midfield. He beat the Remo Stars keeper to put Enugu Rangers ahead. The home side responded by testing the opposition goalkeeper three times before half-time, but each attempt was kept out to preserve the advantage going into the break.
Remo Stars brought on Mohammed Ibe for Olamilekan Adedayo after 58 minutes in an attempt to level the score. Enugu Rangers manager, Fidelis Ilechukwu, introduced Sadiq Olasupo and Hadi Haruna around the 70th minute, replacing Samuel Anakwe and Emmanuel Anthony. Despite increased possession for the hosts, the away defence held firm through the remainder of the contest.
The result lifts Enugu Rangers to fifth place in the 2025/2026 NPFL standings with 19 points from 12 matches. Remo Stars sit 16th on 13 points after the defeat. The leaves the defending champions in a precarious position in the first quarter of the campaign.
They face Kano Pillars next, while Enugu Rangers host Abia Warriors in their following fixture.
