… Obama Also Scheduled To Meet With Leaders of Iraq, Colombia
BEVERLY HILLS, September 16, (THEWILL) – President Barack Obama will Tuesday meet with President Muhammadu Buhari on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly which opens on Monday in New York, the White House announced Friday.
Obama will also hold talks with leaders of Iraq and Colombia.
Though details of the discussions between Obama and Buhari were not disclosed, THEWILL gathered that the U.S. President is expected to discuss trade between the USA and Nigeria and how America can continue to support the economy of Nigeria’s, which is battling a recession that has sent the naira spiraling to levels never seen before.
Buhari, who took office in May last year, will also discuss Nigeria’s fight against the Boko Haram with Obama and how the U.S. can continue to assist the war against terrorism and corruption.
The White House said Obama will devote a portion of Wednesday, the final day of the General Assembly session, to promoting trade between the U.S. and Africa. He will attend a summit with some 200 American and African CEOs, and African heads of state.
This will be Obama’s 8th and last outing to the UNGA as President.
