April 06, (THEWILL) — Pachuca defeated Club León 5-4 in a nine-goal Liga MX Femenil Clausura fixture at the Estadio Hidalgo on Monday, with Nigerian international, Osinachi Ohale, heading home a dramatic late winner to settle one of Jornada 16’s most extraordinary contests.
The hosts imposed themselves from the outset. Andrea Pereira powered in a corner-kick header in the seventh minute before Karla Nieto added a second two minutes later. Rubí Soto gave León a foothold with a clinical 21st-minute finish, though Marcia Paola García Ramírez restored Pachuca’s two-goal buffer just before the interval to send the sides into the break at 3-1.
León came out fighting after the restart. Fer Pinilla cut the deficit on 47 minutes, before Kenti Robles extended the lead to 4-2 in the 59th minute. Itzell Alemán struck on 65 minutes to close the gap, and Soto completed what appeared an improbable recovery when she levelled at 4-4 on 81 minutes.
However, Pachuca found a response within two minutes. Ohale, the Nigeria defender recently back in the squad, rose to meet a delivery and sent a header into the net, provoking celebrations across the Estadio Hidalgo and sealing a victory that had looked in doubt moments earlier.
The result keeps Pachuca in third position under coach Óscar Torres, with a direct Liguilla berth still in sight. León remain 13th on 16 points. Soto, the driving force behind the visitors’ challenge, was withdrawn in visible discomfort late in proceedings, with a suspected muscular injury casting a shadow over an otherwise courageous individual display.
