April 23, (THEWILL) –Â Â Crystal Palace are concerned about the fitness of key player Michael Olise, ahead of their English Premier League match at Selhurst Park against Leeds United.
Last month, the France Under-21 international was injured while on international duty, but he recovered in time for the FA Cup match at Wembley against his former side Chelsea.
However, Olise suffered a relapse in the following game against Newcastle United, which resulted in his substitution five minutes before halftime, with Ghanaian flank runner Jordan Ayew taking his place in the lineup.
The winger’s fitness has been revealed in an update by Eagles manager Patrick Vieira, and there are worries about whether he will be able to play against Leeds.
On Friday, in his press conference for the Monday night football fixture at home, Vieira stated: “With Michael Olise – we were off yesterday and today, so we have to wait until tomorrow. But, yes, we took him off early in the [Newcastle] game as he wasn’t feeling 100 percent.”
The winger has had a fantastic first season in the Premier League, flourishing under Vieira. Olise, who joined the club from Reading last summer, has a direct involvement in twelve goals in twenty-eight games in all competitions this season.
