BEVERLY HILLS, January 28, (THEWILL) – Tuesday’s emergency session of the Senate which was called by Senate President Bukola Saraki to debate President Muhammadu Buhari’s controversial suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen has been cancelled.
The cancellation was announced Monday in a press statement by the Clerk of the Senate, Nelson Ayewoh.
No reason was given for the cancellation even though the gathered that the unwillingness of senators to return to Abuja in the midst of campaigns informed the cancellation.
The statement said the Senate would resume as previously scheduled after the Presidential and National Assembly elections, on the Tuesday, 19th February, 2019.
