Onuachu

November 24, (THEWILL) — Paul Onuachu converted a 76th-minute penalty to help Trabzonspor complete a dramatic 4-3 victory over Istanbul Başakşehir in the 13th week of the Trendyol Süper Lig at Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadium. The striker’s spot-kick brought the visitors level at 2-2 before substitute, Ernest Muçi, struck twice in the final stages to clinch three points for the third-placed side.

Başakşehir found themselves reduced to 10 men in the 10th minute when Festy Ebosele received a red card following a VAR review for a challenge on Edin Višća. Despite the numerical disadvantage, the hosts took the lead through Davie Selke’s 22nd-minute penalty before Felipe Augusto equalised for Trabzonspor in the 37th minute. Eldor Shomurodov restored Başakşehir’s advantage in added time at the end of the first half.

Muçi entered the match and made an immediate impact, putting Trabzonspor ahead for the first time in the 77th minute, just 60 seconds after Onuachu’s penalty. Bertuğ Yıldırım levelled matters at 3-3 in the 90th minute, but Muçi struck again in injury time to seal the win.

The result extended Trabzonspor’s unbeaten run against Başakşehir to six matches and moved them closer to the league’s top two. Başakşehir remain in 12th position following their latest setback.

Trabzonspor will host Konyaspor in their next fixture, whilst Başakşehir travel to face Kasımpaşa. The defeat leaves the Istanbul club searching for consistency after another match defined by defensive frailties and late drama.
