September 17, (THEWILL) – Prolific striker, Gift Orban, has been passed fit to return to action after being denied his first Nigeria cap due to a minor injury last week.
Orban has been selected in Gent’s travelling squad for their Jupiler Pro League clash with OH Leuven this Sunday. Manager Hein Vanhaezebrouck has named nineteen players for the trip to Leuven, with Orban among the four strikers listed.
Also part of the group is Jordan Torunarigha, who received his first Super Eagles call-up for the recent Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match with São Tomé and PrÃncipe. The former Germany youth international was unable to make his international debut last weekend due to a coaching decision.
As for Orban, he had complained of a minor discomfort in his leg in the final workout before the São Tomé match and was not risked. The 21-year-old has picked up where he left off last season, scoring six goals in his first nine games for Gent this campaign – a form that earned him a spot in Nigeria’s 23-man squad.
With the injury scare now behind him, Orban will be looking to impress once again for club and country moving forward. His return is a boost for both Gent and Nigeria.
