August 20, (THEWILL) – Gent were pushed to the limit in the Belgian First Division A on Sunday but managed to secure a 2-2 draw against St. Truiden, thanks to goals from their Nigerian stars: Gift Orban and Jordan Torunarigha.
The match at Ghelamco Arena in Gent started dreadfully for the hosts as they found themselves 2-0 down after just 12 minutes due to strikes from Aboubakary Koita and Delorge-Kneiper. It seemed Gent were on course for a shocking defeat on home soil.
However, Orban, who has been in scintillating goalscoring form this season, pulled one back for Gent with a well-taken finish thanks to an assist from Tsuyoshi Watanabe, just four minutes after the half-hour mark. The goal enlivened the contest and brought the Buffalos back into contention.
Gent were clearly the superior side throughout the 90 minutes but they still trailed the visitors after the interval. Their pressure finally paid off in the 57th minute when Torunarigha drew them level at 2-2 with Sven Kums providing the assist.
In the end, Gent will be satisfied with a point from a game where they initially fell behind. Orban and Torunarigha proved their worth with crucial goals to maintain Gent’s unbeaten start.
