February 22, (THEWILL) – Due to a nagging thigh injury, Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala has been ruled out for 10 weeks, meaning she will miss the return leg of their critical Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualifier against Ivory Coast on Wednesday.
Oshoala was noticeably absent from the matchday roster for last week’s game against Ivory Coast, but Ifeoma Onumonu stepped up to score two key goals for the eleven-time African Champions in a 2-0 win.
On Wednesday, Nigeria will face Ivory Coast in the second leg, and coach Randy Waldrum will need all of his finest players available.
Unfortunately, he will have to do so without the Super Falcons’ top striker and captain, Oshoala, who has been ruled out for ten weeks, according to Barca Femini. Coach Waldrum, on the other hand, can rely on Onome Ebi to fill in as captain and Onumonu to score goals once more.
