December 23, (THEWILL) – Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, has signed a new long-term contract with reigning Serie A champions, Napoli, the club announced on Saturday. The 24-year-old fan favourite will remain at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona until at least June 2026.
Osimhen’s previous Napoli deal was set to expire in 2025. His extended commitment ends speculation linking him with summer moves to English Premier League giants, Arsenal and Chelsea, or UEFA Champions League serial winners, Real Madrid.
After beginning his professional career at VfL Wolfsburg, Osimhen moved to Ligue 1 outfit Lille in 2017. Following three successful seasons in France, the commanding centre-forward transferred to Naples in 2020.
Last campaign, Osimhen claimed the Serie A Capocannoniere award as top scorer with 26 goals in 32 matches. His prolific form helped Gli Azzurri coast to their first Scudetto since 1990 with a 16-point margin. Across all tournaments, he netted 31 times in the 2022/2023 season.
Despite recent injury issues restricting his availability this term, Osimhen has continued to demonstrate his world-class ability in glimpses – scoring 7 times in 12 Serie A fixtures. His latest strike came in last weekend’s 2-0 away victory against Cagliari Calcio.
