October 02, (THEWILL) – Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, remains committed to the club despite a recent social media controversy, club captain, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, asserted on Monday.
Osimhen’s agent had threatened legal action, following a mocking TikTok video posted and deleted by Napoli, with the club insisting no offence was intended. Osimhen then declared his love for Napoli on Sunday, as THEWILL reported.
“For us, nothing has changed. His relationship with the team and his attitude to give his best has not changed,” Di Lorenzo told reporters before Napoli’s UEFA Champions League match against Real Madrid on Tuesday. “We’ve seen it in games, he is always willing, always available to teammates. He is the usual Osimhen, a great player who will give his best against Real Madrid,” Di Lorenzo added.
Napoli won their last two Serie A matches, including an impressive 4-0 victory at Lecce on Saturday which took them up to third place. Manager Rudi Garcia, also speaking to reports at the pre-match press conference wants this form to continue to keep Napoli in the UCL spots.
“Napoli should play the Champions League every year. We are top of the group with Real Madrid, but the domestic league allows you to play in the Champions League,” Garcia said.
