February 10, (THEWILL) – The 2023 Nigeria Pitch Awards ceremony is fast approaching, with two of the country’s top footballers, Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala, among the list of nominees.

Osimhen, who is a key player for the Super Eagles and a goal-scoring machine in the Italian Serie A, was the leading scorer in the FIFA U17 World Cup finals in 2015 and has continued to impress on the international stage.

The awards ceremony, which is set to take place in the capital city of Abuja, on 24 March, includes 18 categories, ranging from ‘King of the Pitch’ to ‘Football Journalist of the Year’ in different media categories. The awards also recognise the best grassroots football development programme, the football-friendly Governor of the year, and the best corporate sponsor.

The President of Matchmakers Consult International, Shina Philips, expressed his gratitude to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), for their support of the awards since they began in 2013. He emphasised that the awards will continue to maintain their transparency and credibility, which have been the hallmark of the event over the years.

Augustine Eguavoen, the Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), who spoke on behalf of the NFF President, assured the organisers of the Federation’s continued support as long as the awards continue to maintain their integrity and credibility.
