November 26, (THEWILL) – Victor Osimhen of Napoli has been discharged from the Ruesch Clinic but will be “re-evaluated in 10 to 15 days,” according to the information on the player shared by the leading Serie A club.

THEWILL recalls that Osimhen knocked heads with Inter defender Milan Skriniar in an unintentional collision, sustaining facial fractures that severely wounded the Nigerian.

The damage to Osimhen’s eye socket and cheekbone required “six plaques and 18 screws” to fix, according to Gianpaolo Tartaro, the surgeon who operated on him.

Osimhen is not expected back for at least 90 days, a diagnosis that rules him out ofNigeria’s plans for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which is unfortunate as the 22-year-old was a central figure in the country’s plans to win the continental competition.

Napoli reported that he has “returned home” today where he is expected to recuperate for a few days before being re-evaluated in two weeks, as the initial recovery time of 90 days following the “complex” procedure cannot be guaranteed.

“Victor Osimhen was discharged from the Ruesch Clinic this morning and returned home,” the club confirmed in a statement. “He will have a rest period of at least 10 to 15 days and then he will be re-evaluated.”

It follows from the warning of Tartaro, the surgeon who carried out the procedure, who cautioned that it was still too early to know the entire extent of the injuries especially due to the complex nature of Osimhen’s fractures.
