March 06, (THEWILL) – David Adedeji Adeleke, better known as Davido has stated that some other things excites him more than music.
The music star made this revelation in an interview granted to BBC’s DJ Edu. According to him, he has been doing music for 11 years and he will continue to be committed to doing music.
He stated that he is making a documentary with Netflix which he describes as “One of it’s kind.” And he is working on a game show which will be like “Fear Factor” but with girls and tasks. The winner will get a lot of money and would be able to go on tour with him.
The singer revealed that he loves news and politics but he doesn’t see himself making a career switch anytime soon because everything in the country is chaotic.
“Nigeria is currently facing fuel scarcity, university strike, widespread discontent and widespread insecurity. It gives me headache.” He lamented.
“I cannot destroy all my years of entertaining, making people happy, then switch to (be a) politician and all my career as Davido and everything I’ve done for myself vanishes because that is exactly what will happen.”
“A lot of them end up destroying their legacies.” He stated while referring to politicians.
He revealed what he wants to be remembered for. He stated that he wants to be remembered for being a way maker, always creating opportunities, changing minds and lives.
He added that his request on Twitter for money was more of a joke.
“I got drunk and I tweeted my account number. The whole night I had people telling me ‘Yo it’s your money’.”
However, his father advised him to add his own personal money to it and donate it.
While speaking about his career, he revealed that he took an unconventional path compared to people in his family. The blueprint in their family is to finish school and “go work for dad.” But he did not follow that path.
“My mum’s passing and my dad being so busy at work gave me time to find myself.” That was when music became his focus.
According to him, he wanted to make it big like Akon in the US but eventually he realized that African sound was where his passion was.
His father was first skeptical about his music career but after he released “Dami Duro” in 2012, his father saw how far he could go in the music industry.
