February 12, (THEWILL) — Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey faces two further rape charges involving an additional woman, the Crown Prosecution Service has confirmed.
The 32-year-old footballer now stands accused of a total of seven counts of rape and one count of sexual assault against four women.
The new charges stem from allegations relating to non-recent offences in 2020, which were first reported to authorities in August 2025.
A Metropolitan Police investigation followed, leading to the Crown Prosecution Service authorising the additional charges. Partey will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on March 13 for an initial hearing on these counts.
Partey previously pleaded not guilty to five rape charges and one sexual assault charge at Southwark Crown Court in September.
That trial is scheduled to begin at the same court on November 2. Jenny Wiltshire, representing Partey, said in a statement: “Thomas Partey continues to deny all charges against him. He has cooperated with the police throughout. Given there are ongoing legal proceedings, there will be no further comment.”
The original police investigation commenced in February 2022, though Partey remained unnamed publicly until charges were brought on July 5, following the expiry of his Arsenal contract.
He appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5 and received conditional bail.
The Ghana international, who has 54 caps and played at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, joined Spanish side Villarreal on a one-year deal in August.
He made 167 appearances for Arsenal after arriving from Atletico Madrid in a £43.5 million transfer in October 2020.
