The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has confirmed the postponement of its national convention slated for Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, on Saturday.
The acting national chairman of the party, Ali Modu Sheriff, who confirmed this to newsmen on Saturday afternoon, at the Le Meridien Hotel in Port Harcourt said, the party had to succumb to various court orders against the convention.
Stressing that he still remained the Chairman of the party, Sheriff said: “We are a responsible party. We have postponed the convention until the court cases are resolved.”
This is happening at a time party delegates from different parts of the country had already arrived the Rivers State capital for the event. Stakeholders of the party had before this announcement was made been locked in a meeting since morning on the fate of the convention.
