The Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have broken ranks with National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Ali Modu-Sheriff, sacked the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party and announced an interim leadership.
The governors ignored a previous directive by Sheriff cancelling the party’s Saturday convention in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The governors instead named a former Governor of Kaduna, Sen. Ahmed Makarfi as interim national chairman and Senator Ben Obi as national secretary of the party.
Another faction of the party led by Professor Jerry Gana is holding its convention in Abuja.
