… Decision Clears Path For Akpabio’s Anointed Successor, Emmanuel Udom To Emerge

BEVERLY HILLS, October 29, (THEWILL) – After a review of the decision of the enlarged State Executive Committee of Akwa-Ibom state PDP, the National Working committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it has accepted and fully endorsed the decision to zone the Akwa-Ibom state governorship ticket of the party to Eket Senatorial Zone.

The decision has cleared the way for current Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Governor Godswill Akpabio’s preferred candidate, Mr. Emmanuel Udom to emerge, and halted the governorship bids of former Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Umanah Umanah and former Finance Commissioner Albert Akpan, and other frontrunners outside the Eket District, in the PDP. Umanah and Akpan are from the Uyo Senatorial District.

In a statement signed by the Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, the party said, “The NWC expects that only aspirants from Eket Senatorial Zone will present themselves for the governorship primary election in the state.

“In the spirit of internal democracy, the NWC promises that there will be free, fair and transparent congresses. Aspirants from Eket Senatorial Zone are therefore encouraged to fully participate in the process.”
