August 24, (THEWILL) –Â Nicolas Pepe, Arsenal’s Ivorian forward, has made the decision to sign a loan deal with OGC Nice with the end of the transfer window drawing closer.
Reports monitored by THEWILL from Ligue 1 note that the two clubs have agreed to allow the player to spend the entire season on loan at the Allianz Riviera, but without the possibility of a purchase at the end of the arrangement. Nice will, therefore, pay only a portion of the player’s €650,000 monthly salary during this time.
The 27-year-old was also a target for Leicester, who offered to pay his entire wage, but he insisted on staying in France and turned down their advances.
The Ivorian international, who previously played for Angers and Orleans, signed with the Gunners in 2019 for £72 million, but he has not really made an impact in London after initially dazzling the north London fans with a burst of zeal, skills, artistry and pace.
In 112 games played since, he scored 27 goals and added 21 assists while also making 112 appearances in all competitions, including his 10 goals in 29 Premier League games last season.
