March 16, (THEWILL) – The Super Eagles of Nigeria are gearing up for their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture against the Djurtus of Guinea Bissau, and Head Coach, José Santos Peseiro, has invited a strong squad of 23 players to their camp.
Among the players called up are team captain, Ahmed Musa, in-form forwards, Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, and a host of others. The game is billed for Friday, March 24, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, and the two teams will meet again on March 27, in Bissau.
Kenneth Omeruo, Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka, and Bruno Onyemaechi are among the players, who have been given a chance to vie for a spot in the starting lineup against Semi Ajayi, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Kevin Akpoguma, and Calvin Bassey. Zaidu Sanusi, Alex Iwobi, Joe Aribo, Kelechi Iheanacho, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, Terem Moffi, and Paul Onuachu are also on the list of invited players.
Nigeria currently sits at the top of the table with six points from two matches, having defeated Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe. Guinea Bissau is in second place with four points from their defeat of Sao Tome and Principe and draw with the Leone Stars.
The Nigerian team will be looking to continue their winning streak, and they will have Napoli’s blazing forward, Osimhen, who has so far scored 23 goals in 28 matches this season, on their side to boost their striking lineup.
