April 05, (THEWILL) – Petralon Energy Limited, an upstream energy company in Nigeria, has been announced as the official Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partner for the yearly Okpekpe 10 kilometre Road Race by organisers, Pamodzi Limited.

The event has been recognised as a world-class race by World Athletics, making it the first road running event in West Africa to receive this honour. Now, Petralon Energy Limited has added its name to the growing list of companies supporting the race and will use the opportunity to empower the Ora Community in Owan Local Council in Edo State, on the day of the race.

The Okpekpe Road Race has been a world-class event for eight years, having gained recognition as the first road running event in West Africa to receive World Athletics’ authentication as a world-class race. The race has grown from a bronze label status to a silver label status and will now hold its ninth edition in 2023 with a gold label event.

With the addition of Petralon Energy Limited to the sponsorship list, the race is expected to contribute more to making Nigeria a greater country. The company also has plans to offer prize monies to the first three Ora indigenes who finish the race.
