June 30, (THEWILL) – The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency of Plateau State, Hon. Baba Hassan, has warned against bloodletting, as campaigns for 2023 elections get underway.
Hassan noted that he would not want a situation, whereby blood would be spilled because of his ambition, saying it is only God that gives power to whosoever he wishes, without regard to your resources or support base.
He said that, “If there will be any bloodshed, and I will be the cause, God should not give me victory.”
The former Deputy Speaker and current member representing Jos North-North State Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, advised that campaigns should be based on issues and the political parties manifestos, and not on religion or ethnicity.
He promised that if elected, the good people of his constituency should expect quality representation, which will have direct bearing on their lives, as he is already familiar with the business of legislation for 16 years running.
Hassan further said as a former deputy speaker, he has the required experience to serve his people in higher capacity and to consolidate on the gains of democracy that the Governor Lalong administration brought to his people.
Speaking on the Muslim-Muslim ticket for the APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as being canvassed in some quarters, Hassan said Muslim-Christian ticket will be best for this country at this moment.
He added that there is urgent need to carry every segment of the society along in governance, so that all will have the sense of belonging and contribute their quota to the growth and development of Nigeria.
The lawmaker also called on the APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party leadership, to consider Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State as Vice President, in-view of his track records.
He said that Governor Lalong, being the Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum and a Christian from the North, if chosen as Tinubu’s running mate, will be putting a square peg in a square hole.
