BEVERLY HILLS, CA, October 09, (THEWILL) – The embattled Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable John Clark Dabwan, who Friday narrowly escaped impeachment by his colleagues in the House, Wednesday resigned as head of the legislature.
The Assemblymen elected Rt. Honorable Tinus Alams as new Speaker of the House.
18 out of the 24 lawmakers had signed on to impeach Dabwan and had gathered in closed-door meeting to proceed with his removal when the Speaker was alerted by his supporters and he briefed the aggrieved lawmakers to allow him resign honourably from office later this week.
Dabwan reportedly lost the support of State Governor, Mr. Jonah David Jang, who tacitly endorsed his ouster from office.
