Yobe Killings: Group Wants Agric College Moved To Damaturu

BEVERLY HILLS, CA, October 09, (THEWILL) –  Following the gruesome killing of over 60 students of Yobe State College of Agriculture, Gujba, a forthnight ago by gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram members, the Yobe State Government has been asked to move the school from its present location to Damaturu, the state capital.

A group, Get Involved Today, made the call on Wednesday when its leader, Comrade Idris Usman, led other members of  the  Abuja- based group  to Yobe to  visit  those injured in the school attack  and the families of the deceased.

Those visited during by the group include 24-year- old Musa Galadima, who survived the attack and is currently receiving treatment at the Damaturu Specialists’ Hospital.

The group also visited other bereaved families and condoled with them for the death of their loved ones.

Leader of the team used the occasion to  call on the state government to beef up security across all schools in the state to prevent further attacks  by the insurgents.

He also  called on the Academic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU) to call off the ongoing  strike and approach the issues with the Federal Government through dialogue.

He  presented some materials to the students who survived the attack as he condemnedd the action of the terrorists,  praying  for the quick recovery of the students and the restoration of peace in the state.

The group  also visited the family of the slain lecturer of the school, whose wife delivered two days after the attack, urging  the wife  to take solace in God. The family was also  presented with some relief materials with  prayers  that God should grant  the family the courage to bear the  loss.

While  interacting  with some student leaders later during the visit, Usman urged the youths  to resist being used by any group against the mutual co-existence of the country and to work assiduously towards finding lasting peace in the country.

“As the attack on schools continues, it is high time government, security agents and all the concerned authorities take the necessary measures that will end these incessant killings,” he  said.
