July 12, (THEWILL) – A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and one-time gubernatorial aspirant of the Party in Plateau State, in the 2015 general elections, Sabiu Musa Ibrahim, has provided insight into the outcome of the 2023 gubernatorial election in Plateau State, saying the people of Plateau State will resist Lalong’s manipulations and reject whoever he imposes on the people as anointed candidate.
Recalling that Governor Lalong himself is a product of the rejection of imposition of candidate by his predecessor, Sabiu Musa Ibrahim, who is now the zonal organising secretary of the African Democratic Congress, North Central, noted that the people’s resistance against Lalong this time will be worse and more overwhelming, because of the woeful performance of the All Progressives Congress under Lalong.
“In spite of the record performance that his predecessor, Jonah David Jang, posted, which is still everywhere for people to see, the people of Plateau rejected and resisted him when he attempted to foist a dynasty on them. In the case of Lalong, I don’t see any good performance by him that will make Plateau people tolerate and vote for his candidate. His own rejection will be worse”, Sabiu said.
He argued that “if the Plateau that we are living in is the one Lalong is governing, then we have not seen anything tangible that he has done that will warrant voting for the APC again. He said he spent about N1.1billion to demolish the Jos Main Market. Go there now and see – it is zero! Nothing is happening there.”
Sabiu is also of the opinion that Governor Lalong has been callous and unfair to those who helped to bring him to power in 2015. According to Sabiu, Lalong ought to have demonstrated respect and regard to his deputy, Professor Sonni Gwanle Tyoden. He frowned at the manner Lalong used and despised his deputy, allowing him to waste his hard earned money to purchase nomination and expression of interest forms, only to manipulate the process and frustrated him out of the race, adding that “Tyoden is more respectable than that, and the APC has not justified why it was voted ahead of the PDP in 2015.”
