Graham Potter

February 17, (THEWILL) – Graham Potter is hopeful of a speedy conclusion to the ongoing talks surrounding Mason Mount’s future at Chelsea.

The midfielder’s contract at Stamford Bridge is set to end by the conclusion of the 2023/2024 season. Reports suggest that discussions between Chelsea and Mount have reached an impasse, although Potter admits that the situation is “complicated.

Should the 22-year-old English international decide to move on from Chelsea, English Premier League giants Manchester City, Manchester United, and Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing him. Mount’s absence would be a significant loss for Chelsea, with the Englishman having played a vital role in the club’s campaign this season, scoring three goals, and assisting three others in all competitions.

Only Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz have contributed to more goals for the struggling Blues. When asked about Mount’s future, Potter said: “It is always complicated. There’re always negotiations. It is best to leave it between Mason and the club. It is the best way for that to be dealt with.”

Mason has been a fantastic player to work with, according to Potter, and he hopes that the situation will be sorted out as quickly as possible.
