March 19, (THEWILL)- The 2024 home and away kits for Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, have officially arrived. The announcement came through a video shared on sportswear company Nike’s social media platforms on Monday, putting an end to the anticipation and speculation surrounding leaked designs.
In a break from tradition, the iconic green jersey worn by the Super Eagles in recent years will now serve as the away kit. The new home strip is a dazzling white affair, featuring green and white taping on the sleeves and shorts. A faded eagle design adorns the front of the jersey, while the team crest appears on the shorts alongside Nike’s signature red logo.
Crafted using Nike’s “Dri-Fit Adv” technology, the jerseys are designed to keep players cool and dry during intense matches. However, this high performance comes at a premium price of £124.99 (approximately ₦250,000) on Nike’s online store.
The long-awaited kit launch had been shrouded in mystery, with the Nigerian Football Federation dismissing rumours of a new design only weeks ago. Fans’ anticipation reached fever pitch after leaked images surfaced showing a radical departure from previous kits.
Fans will be watching the debut of the new jersey as the Super Eagles prepare for their March international friendlies against Ghana and Mali in Marrakech, Morocco, in less than four days.
