November 06, (THEWILL) – The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, has opted not to attend the anticipated celebration for his father, King Charles’ 75th birthday set to take place at Clarence House in London next Tuesday, 14 November 14.
The decision comes as a notable choice amid the family dynamics, and the milestone event is expected to be a significant affair honouring the monarch’s 75 years.
Prince Harry and his father still have limited communication, attributed to Charles’ disappointment over Harry’s portrayal of Queen Camilla in his memoir, ‘Spare’.
Tensions have also persisted since Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure as senior royals, marked by claims of mistreatment aired in interviews and Harry’s memoir.
Despite Harry’s attendance at his father’s coronation in May, their relationship remains strained, evident in the lack of public acknowledgement from the Royal Family on Harry’s birthday in September.
However, an insider revealed that the Duke of Sussex did not receive personal well-wishes from his brother, Prince William, or his father, King Charles.
Communication between the King and Prince Harry remains notably sparse, with minimal to no interaction.
The insider also hinted at another factor: Charles’ disappointment and dismay over Harry’s portrayal of Queen Camilla in his memoir. In the book, the Duke describes his stepmother as ‘dangerous’ and a ‘villain’ who left ‘bodies in the street.’
This is the second time Prince Harry has declined an invitation to spend time with his father.
In September, even during a visit from California, he chose not to join the King in Balmoral on the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s death.
Despite making only a brief appearance at the King’s coronation, Prince Harry left shortly after.
