BEVERLY HILLS, March 30, (THEWILL) – In a bid to encourage excellence within the squad of Super Eagles, Nigeria Breweries PLC, has earmarked N1 million for whosoever emerges the Man-of-the-Match in Tuesday’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier match between the Super Eagles and the Crocodiles of Lesotho in Lagos.
The firm proposed the offer through one of their products, the 33 Export Lager brand, a premium quality beer launched into the Nigerian market in 1979.
The brand has communicated to the NFF that whoever emerges the Man-of-the-Match would be N1 million richer.
The incentive to perform did not stop there as another partner of the NFF, automobile giants CIG Motors, sole distributors of the GAC vehicles in Nigeria, also announced a motivational package.
The company entered a partnership deal with the Federation in November last year, as reported by THEWILL.
Plans are afoot by GAC to be at the Teslim Balogun Stadium to offer the Most Valuable Player of the day a N1 million cheque.
The firms indicated that their acts of motivation would guarantee the best performance from the Super Eagles and ensure they produced top shelf football despite having already qualified for the biennial tournament that kicks off early next year in Cameroon.
The Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, in whose state’s stadium the tie will be hosted, will be one of the dignitaries at the Tuesday match, as well as his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat.
Others, including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Sports and Youth Development Minister Sunday Dare and the permanent secretary in the ministry, Mr. Nebolisa Anako, are also expected to show up.
The NFF entourage expected to grace the stadium will be led by Nigeria’s new member of the FIFA Executive Council and current NFF President, Amaju Melvin Pinnick.
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles’ rivals, the Crocodiles, Lesotho’s senior national team, are already in Lagos after landing at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Monday. The Crocodiles immediately headed to their hotel.
They expectedly acclimatised to the Teslim Balogun Stadium later on Monday, where they trained in the final strategising before Tuesday’s tie.
