
July 12, (THEWILL) – Semi-finalists have emerged in the men and women categories of Nigeria’s biggest grassroots football showpiece, the Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament, aka Prosperity Cup.
Peremo Soccer Academy hammered Pretty Queens 8-0 to secure qualification into the semi-final. Anderson Blessing’s glut in the 6th, 18th, 21st, 26th and 64th minute as well as Angela Gita and Perewari Anderson’s goals pushed the free-scoring Peremo Soccer Academy into the last four of the tournament.
Niger Delta University Queens beat Stardom Life FC 3-2 to progress to the semi-finals. Gloria’s late-minute goal defined the fixture for the NDU Queens. Also, Afini Ladies pipped Igbogene Girls 3-2 on penalties after a one-all draw in regulation time.
Earlier in the only male’s quarter-finals fixture decided on Friday, Bayelsa United Feeders FC spanked Southern Ijaw side Adulama FC 3-0 to qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament. Substitute Nathaniel Ojibare came from the bench to net his first hat-trick of the competition.
Action will return on Saturday, in the quarter-finals of the Prosperity Cup at the Samson Siasia Stadium.
