November 23, (THEWILL) — Paris Saint-Germain reclaimed first place in Ligue 1 after defeating Le Havre 3-0 at the Parc des Princes on Saturday evening. Marseille had moved to the top of the table following their 5-1 win against Nice the previous day, but the defending champions responded with a dominant display.
Lee Kang-In opened the scoring in the 29th minute, squeezing Nuno Mendes’ delivery past goalkeeper Mory Diaw at the near post. The hosts had survived an earlier scare when Lucas Chevalier made a crucial save to deny Issa Soumare’s deflected effort.
Luis Enrique’s side continued to press forward in search of a second goal, with Goncalo Ramos testing Diaw on multiple occasions before half-time. Le Havre created opportunities of their own, with Soumare forcing Chevalier into action and later hitting the side netting from a narrow angle during an open first half.
The home side took control after the interval and doubled their advantage in the 65th minute when Joao Neves tapped in off the post after Bradley Barcola had been thwarted twice inside the penalty area. The margin of victory was extended three minutes before full-time when Barcola finished low into the bottom-left corner following Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s pass.
The result means PSG have returned to the Ligue 1 summit, overtaking their rivals on goal difference after delivering a convincing performance against mid-table opposition.
