PSG

April 04, (THEWILL) — A brace from Ousmane Dembele and a late goal from Goncalo Ramos gave Paris Saint-Germain a 3-1 win over Toulouse at the Parc des Princes on Friday, extending their lead at the summit of Ligue 1 to four points above Lens.

Dembele put the hosts in front in the 23rd minute with a stunning volley from the edge of the box. Toulouse levelled almost immediately when a goalkeeping error from Matvey Safonov allowed Rasmus Nicolaisen to divert a header into the far corner, but PSG restored their advantage before the half-hour mark.

The second goal came from a Lee Kang-in inswinging corner, which Khvicha Kvaratskhelia flicked on at the near post, leaving Dembele with a simple finish from inside the six-yard box. Kvaratskhelia had been a constant menace throughout the first half, drawing two saves from Toulouse goalkeeper Guillaume Restes in the opening quarter of an hour.

Dembele had a third effort ruled out for offside, and both Willian Pacho and Kvaratskhelia went close in the final stages. The result was put beyond doubt when Ramos struck a curling shot from distance that clipped the post on its way in, wrapping up a comfortable evening for Luis Enrique’s side.

Toulouse offered little after drawing level, and PSG controlled the majority of the contest. The victory consolidates their position at the top of the French top flight ahead of the remainder of the weekend’s fixtures.
