August 29, (THEWILL) – Paris Saint-Germain’s perfect start to the season came to an end when Monaco held them to a difficult 1–1 draw at home in the Parc des Princes.
Although PSG played well in the first half, the visitors led at the interval, thanks to a precise Kevin Volland goal past Gianluigi Donnarumma. Christophe Galtier’s team had all to do to find an equaliser, and they were successful when VAR called a foul on Neymar and awarded a penalty.
Neymar stepped up, dusted himself and took the penalty kick himself to level the scores. The hosts tried to secure a win with another goal but were unsuccessful as Monaco managed to hold on for a share of the points.
In the end, PSG were disappointed not to get all three points, while Monaco were relieved to leave the city with a what they will consider an impressive draw given the talents that were marshalled against them.
In midweek, PSG will look to get back to winning ways when they visit Toulouse while Monaco welcome Troyes to the Stade Louis II.
