May 28, (THEWILL) – Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper, Sergio Rico, was admitted to the hospital on Sunday morning, after a harrowing incident during a horse riding mishap.

The Spanish athlete had returned to his hometown of Seville after his team’s Ligue 1 title-winning draw against Strasbourg the previous night, during which he remained on the substitutes’ bench. Media outlets in Spain, such as COPE, AS, and Marca, reported on the seriousness of Rico’s condition, with Cadena Ser stating that he was unconscious. Medical examinations are currently underway to determine the extent of his injuries.

While initial accounts suggest that Rico may have sustained head or neck injuries from a collision with a runaway horse and his, no official confirmation has been provided yet. However, following the public disclosure of Rico’s hospitalisation, both Paris Saint-Germain and his former club, Sevilla, issued statements online to confirm the news.
