August 12, (THEWILL) – In preparation for a potential transfer from Manchester United, Ligue 1 giants, Paris Saint-Germain, have contacted representatives of Marcus Rashford to open talks.
As THEWILL reported, in addition to new manager, Cristophe Galtier, PSG named Luis Campos, in lieu of Mauricio Pochettino and Leonardo respectively, to oversee their summer transfer strategy and both men have begun a team revamp.
So far, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, Renato Sanches, Nordi Mukiele, and Hugo Ekitike have all joined PSG, while Alphonse Areola, Marci Bulka, Angel Di Maria, and Georginio Wijnaldum have been the most notable departures. Although an exit appeared certain for Brazilian striker, Neymar, he currently remains part of the squad.
On Thursday night, the story broke that talks had begun with Rashford’s agents. Galtier has stated his desire to add another forward, and it is anticipated that PSG will allow Mauro Icardi to go before the summer transfer window closes. Rashford, 24, has a year left on his current contract, according to reports, but his deal contains a 12-month extension clause, so even if United may feel under pressure to sell, they will not lose him for free in the near future.
After a succession of injuries, including a shoulder issue that necessitated surgery following the delayed Euro 2020 tournament last summer, Rashford’s career appears to have come to a grinding halt especially with United’s recent desperate search for a striker. It is just the sweet spot that PSG are attempting to exploit.
