March 22, (THEWILL) — Four goals at the Allianz Riviera returned PSG to the top of Ligue 1, with Nice unable to contain the visitors across a one-sided evening in the south of France.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia threatened on two occasions in the opening half, only for Nice defender Juma Bah to deny him both times.
The breakthrough arrived three minutes before the interval, Nuno Mendes converting from the penalty spot after a VAR review determined that Morgan Sanson had handled the ball.
Mendes then turned provider four minutes into the second half, laying off Desire Doue to make it 2-0. Nice’s night worsened shortly after the hour mark when Youssouf Ndayishimiye received a straight red card on his first start of the season, punished for a reckless challenge on Lee Kang-In.
Kvaratskhelia was denied by the offside flag before Dro Fernandez marked his first goal for the club in the 81st minute to extend PSG’s lead.
Warren Zaire-Emery wrapped up proceedings with a close-range finish four minutes later.
The victory moved Luis Enrique’s side back to the summit of the Ligue 1 standings, with the margin of the result further emphasising the distance between PSG and most of their domestic rivals.
