August 12, (THEWILL) – Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of French winger, Ousmane Dembele, from Barcelona.
The 26-year-old has penned a five-year contract with the Ligue 1 champions after they triggered his €50m release clause. Dembele was in the final year of his Barcelona deal and looked set to depart on a free transfer next summer. However, Barcelona have decided to cash in now rather than lose the player for nothing in 2023.
Since joining Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in 2017, Dembele made 150 appearances for the Catalan club, scoring 32 goals. However, his time at Camp Nou was hampered by injuries, but Les Parisiens will be hoping the Frenchman can fulfil his potential in his homeland.
“I’m delighted to join PSG and can’t wait to play for my new club,” said Dembele. “I hope I can continue to grow here and make the fans proud.” PSG President, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, added: “We are thrilled to welcome Ousmane to Paris Saint-Germain. He will be an important and committed player and his passion for the club is fantastic.”
The French champions are also progressing in talks for Eintracht Frankfurt French striker, Randal Kolo Muani, as they continue to strengthen their squad.
