Leonardo Nascimento de Araújo

October 05, (THEWILL) -Leonardo Nascimento de Araújo, the PSG sports director, has spoken to the press about Florentino Perez’s comments to Spanish publication El Debate. Perez, the Real Madrid president, had said there would be an update about Mbappe in January.

As THEWILL reported, Perez eventually went on to correct his own statements, claiming that they had been “misinterpreted.”

“My words were misinterpreted, I just said that we will have to wait until next year to find out what happens, always with the respect we have towards PSG,” Perez had clarified.

Despite Perez’s clarification, Leonardo went to the press to give his take on the issue.

“These new quotes are disrespectful towards PSG and towards Mbappe. In fact, a Real Madrid player [Karim Benzema], the coach and now the president have been talking about Mbappe as if he were one of their own already, and in a span of just one week.

“Florentino had talked to the fans about Mbappe this week already and I repeat, this is so disrespectful that we can’t allow it.”

PSG still want Mbappe to extend his current deal, which expires next summer, Leonardo said at the end of his brief interview.

“This has been going on for the last two years. I just want everyone to remember that the transfer window is over and that the season is being played. We have games and Real Madrid need to stop behaving like this. Make this stop! Mbappe is a PSG player and the club wants him to stay.”
